The construction of bridges (in-house work) by the Department of Highways, which requires stability, strength, and a long lifespan, necessitates a unit with specialized knowledge in bridge construction. Historically, the Department of Highways divided its units into sections called Bridge Construction Sections, responsible for the construction and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete bridges as assigned by the Department. Currently, the Department of Highways has established a unit responsible for bridge construction called the "Bridge Construction and Rehabilitation Center," which is divided into four centers based on area of responsibility. The Bridge Construction and Rehabilitation Center No. 2 (Khon Kaen) is responsible for the area... Northeastern Region, Thailand
In 1961, the Department of Highways consolidated various bridge divisions into two projects:
- Project 1: Bridge Construction in Ubon Ratchathani Province
- Project 2: Bridge Construction in Maha Sarakham Province
In 1969, Project 1: Bridge Construction in Ubon Ratchathani Province was relocated to Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province.
In 1990, it was upgraded to Bridge Construction and Rehabilitation Center 1, Nong Khai Province.
In 1991, it was renamed “Bridge Construction and Rehabilitation Center 2 (Khon Kaen)”.
And it was relocated to its current location on Mittraphap Road, Km. 367, Kut Nam Sai Subdistrict, Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province.
